Read Aloud "We Should All Be Feminists" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Description
Are you a Happy Feminist? What is a Happy Feminist? Come find out!

Join us as we read aloud "We Should All Be Feminists" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Format of event

• We'll do a shared reading of Adichie's short text, followed by a discussion. Share with us your experience with the word "feminism" and your issues with gender.

• If there is a feminist-themed reading you particularly like, we invite you to bring it along to read aloud. A five to 10 minute piece would be best.

• There will be vegan snacks at the read-aloud. Should you wish to bring a contribution, we would be delighted. But bring yourself for sure! We want to meet you!

Important

• Please take a moment to update your RSVP if you cannot make it to the event.

• For any last-minute cancellations (on the day of the read-aloud), we would appreciate if you could contact the organizer directly via Meetup or readaloudsg AT gmail DOT com.

Venue

• The read-aloud will take place in an open air pavilion at Fort Canning. We will be sheltered from sun and rain. (See a picture of the pavilion below or "Photos" tab if viewing on Meetup mobile app.)

• The pavilion (circled in blue) is located between the Gothic Gate closest to Carpark A and the “Together” sculpture in the ASEAN Sculpture Garden. The pavilion faces the back entrance of National Museum of Singapore.

Directions

If you are coming by bus or MRT, an easy way to walk to the pavilion is to make your way to the National Museum of Singapore first. At Level 3, next to the children’s playroom (called "Play@NMS"), there is an exit that opens to Canning Rise road. Take this exit, cross the road, keep walking straight ahead and you’ll see the Gothic Gate, Carpark A and the pavilion. (On the map this route is marked in blue.)
